HR Leaders as Risk Architects: Building Systems That Protect People, Policy, and Legacy

In this session, participants will explore how HR professionals serve as “risk architects,” building structures that proactively address people-related risks before they become crises. Through practical examples and real-world insights from risk management, this presentation will highlight how thoughtful policies, consistent processes, and strong cross-functional collaboration can safeguard employees, strengthen organizational resilience, and leave a lasting HR legacy.

Presenter: Alyssa Liddle

Alyssa Liddle is a public sector risk management professional with extensive experience helping organizations proactively identify, manage, and reduce risk across complex operational environments. She currently works in municipal risk management, where she oversees insurance programs, claims management, policy development, and enterprise risk initiatives designed to protect both employees and the communities they serve.

Alyssa’s work frequently intersects with Human Resources, particularly in areas such as employee safety, workplace investigations, liability prevention, and organizational risk culture. She has led initiatives that strengthen collaboration between HR, legal, and operational departments to streamline processes, reduce exposure, and improve organizational resilience.
