Presenting: Step Into the Spotlight: Moving Beyond Imposter Phenomenon

We've all heard the term "Fake it Til You Make It". For many, stepping into that type of spotlight feels more like being exposed as a fraud than an acknowledgment that they have earned it. This session will explore the core concepts of Imposter Phenomenon (now more widely referred to as Imposter Syndrome), including the history of Imposter Phenomenon, the differences between Imposter Phenomenon, self-doubt, or other confidence gaps, and how it may be impacting you as a professional, your team, and your employee/candidate experiences. We will explore who is most likely to be affected and discuss ideas for changes to HR business practices related to Imposter Phenomenon.

Presenter: Brody Lorda, MBA, PSHRA-SCP, PHR

Brody is a Human Resources executive with over 20 years of experience in public sector human resources. She is currently the Director of Human Resources for the Cosumnes Community Services District in Northern California. She was previously the Human Resources Manager with the City of Citrus Heights and the Assistant Director of Human Resources with the County of Yolo. She holds a master’s degree in business administration and possesses her PSHRA-SCP and PHR professional certifications. She has held numerous leadership roles with PSHRA since 2010 at the Chapter, Regional, and National levels, and currently sits on the Executive Council as the PSHRA West Chairperson. She prides herself on being committed to public service, the HR profession, and the development and mentoring of future leaders.
